The sciatic nerve is the longest nerve in the body that extends from the lower back, down your legs, to the tips of your toes.  Irritation or impingement of this nerve can bring almost unbearable and relentless pain. 

 

Problems in this area often start in the lower back and can move into the thigh and even into the feet and toes.  Issues in this area aren't just recognised as back and leg pain, but can also present as burning and tingling, and in advanced cases can even cause numbness and loss of leg strength.
